Rosewood Amsterdam: a new chapter for a historic landmark
1 May 2025
Rosewood Amsterdam has officially opened its doors in the heart of the city’s UNESCO-listed Canal District, marking the brand’s debut in the Netherlands. Set within the transformed former Palace of Justice, the hotel offers 134 refined rooms and suites, including five signature Houses — each inspired by Amsterdam’s cultural heritage and designed for residential-style living.
Following a decade of meticulous restoration, the seventeenth-century landmark has been reimagined as a purpose-led luxury destination. Studio Piet Boon led the interior design of all guest rooms and public areas — including the lobby bar and show kitchen — blending historic architecture with contemporary Dutch elegance.
With nearly 1,000 curated artworks, immersive wellness at Asaya Spa, and standout dining concepts such as the botanical brasserie Eeuwen and cocktail bar Advocatuur, Rosewood Amsterdam invites guests into a world where heritage, creativity and modern refinement converge.
Kentie Architecten acted as supervising architect for this project.
