Ans Bakker: memories in glass
13 October 2023
At Studio Piet Boon, our commitment to design extends beyond the realms of interiors and architecture. Recognizing the transformative power of art, our expertise also embraces consultative support for art, objects, and accessory selections. We take pride in offering bespoke art pieces, ensuring that the final interior resonates with harmony and completeness. With this philosophy at our core, we’re excited to present our collaboration with an artist whose work embodies this balance – Ans Bakker.
Born in Zwartsluis, Netherlands, in 1963, artist Ans Bakker has seamlessly combined her background in window-dressing and theatre design with her passion for glass artistry.
Bakker’s creations are deeply influenced by the fragility of nature, especially the captivating interplay between land and water. Her pieces, often reflections of waterfronts, capture the balance of control and surrender, mirroring humanity’s efforts to shape nature’s design.
After working for a decade as an art director for major events, Bakker pursued a 5-year study in glass techniques in Mechelen, Belgium. Today, her artworks are not merely objects; they are tangible memories, reflecting the dance between the artist’s emotions and the tranquil silence of the landscape.
