Rosewood Ranfaru, Maldives
Work in progress
For Rosewood Ranfaru, Studio Piet Boon was responsible for the design of all guest villas, as well as key public areas, translating the natural beauty of the Maldives into a refined and timeless resort environment. Spread across a chain of private islands in the South Male Atoll, the project required a careful balance between luxury, privacy, and harmony with the surrounding landscape.
The design approach emphasizes material authenticity, and subtle layering of natural textures. The Interiors of villas, both on the beach and overwater, are conceived as calm, generous spaces that allow the natural light, views, and the colors of the sea/ocean to shape the atmosphere. Natural materials, soft tones, and understated detailing create an environment that feels both contemporary and rooted in place.
Public areas, including the arrival lounge, entertainment buildings, and wellness facilities, are designed to feel open and connected, while still offering intimate zones for retreat. The spatial organization prioritizes flow and orientation, ensuring guests experience a seamless transition from private to social spaces. Landscape integration–, and the interplay between indoor and outdoor areas reinforce the resort’s connection to its unique setting.
Every aspect of the design—architectural gestures, interior layout, and material palette—is informed by a clear intent: to create spaces that are quiet, elegant, and timeless, allowing the surrounding natural beauty to remain the focal point. Studio Piet Boon’s design for Rosewood Ranfaru translates the spirit of the Maldives into a refined architectural and interior experience, where luxury is expressed through restraint, detail, and spatial clarity.
