Building the palette: from signature colors to island tones

This collection draws from the studio’s rich history of color, beginning with signature Piet Boon white and gray tones used in early projects. “These colors were the foundation,” Jesseca explains. Extensive research on frequently used hues led to a refined palette, including shades inspired by projects on the ABC islands. This careful selection resulted in a cohesive color collection that bridges tradition and innovation.

Curating colors with purpose

Each color in the collection is chosen with intent, creating a harmonious and versatile palette. “We started with ten essential colors, which laid the groundwork for future licensing collections,” Jesseca notes. These foundational colors form the backbone of the Piet Boon Paint & Plaster collection, ensuring a unified aesthetic across products and interiors.

The unique qualities of Piet Boon Paint & Plaster

Versatility defines Piet Boon Paint & Plaster. Offered in a range of finishes, from matte to gloss, the collection allows for layered textures that add depth to any room. “The matte finish, for instance, creates a serene, calming atmosphere,” Jesseca says. “When paired with gloss, it brings an elegant contrast.” This flexibility enables designers to play with textures to achieve a dynamic yet cohesive look.

Aligning with trends: warmer tones for modern spaces

Jesseca notes a growing trend toward warmer tones in interior spaces. “We’ve always embraced warm colors, especially for our island projects,” she shares. These shades now enrich the collection, meeting evolving tastes while preserving timeless appeal. By aligning with these trends, the palette feels fresh yet familiar.

Overcoming challenges in color consistency

Consistency across various finishes and materials posed a unique challenge during the development of the collection. “Each product, whether paint, plaster, or finish, has its unique characteristics,” Jesseca explains. Ensuring uniform color required careful testing and adjustments, resulting in a collection that maintains visual integrity across applications.

A versatile palette for all interior styles

The palette is adaptable to both modern and classic interiors. “We created a timeless color selection that adapts to various interior aesthetics,” says Jesseca. Different plaster techniques, from coarse to fine, provide flexibility, allowing each space to showcase a unique personality.

Designer’s personal picks

When asked about favorite colors in the collection, Jesseca mentions OAT and SAND. “These tones are warm and understated, creating a soothing backdrop,” they explain. These favorites exemplify the subtle elegance that characterizes the collection.

Guiding the production process

Jesseca’s role extended beyond color selection to overseeing the production process. “I ensured that each color sample matched our vision,” the designer shares, highlighting the dedication to quality that defines the studio’s approach to paint and plaster.
