The College Hotel Amsterdam
At a dynamic point in Amsterdam Zuid, where renowned museums and international fashion houses effortlessly blend with the multicultural street character of De Pijp, stands The College Hotel, a neo-renaissance style national monument originally built as a school building.
In this setting, Studio Piet Boon stamps its signature with a conceptual interior design that welcomes guests into a contemporary setting with nostalgic elements. The new design features 40 unique hotel rooms, along with the adjoining corridors.
"From the moment guests set foot in The College Hotel, they feel the rich history of the building, full of references to the past and hints of potential for the future. Just like in school."
- Irene Valbusa, Senior Designer
The building, which first opened its doors in 1895 to fill classrooms with students from the neighborhood, has retained its identity as a college throughout the years. It is this rich history, the eclectic architectural style, and the central location that inspired our designers in crafting the new vision.
Subtle references to the daily life of school back then have been skillfully woven into the present throughout the interior. Recognizable school patterns and materials have been reinterpreted. Historical study items have been transformed into art.
Throughout the hotel, a soft and warm color palette has been chosen, welcoming guests into a homely atmosphere. Discover a harmonious blend of service, comfort, materials, art, and design that gives The College Hotel its unique, intimate, and vibrant character.
