Yangzhi Island Resort
Work in progress
On a small island in the East China Sea, our team is developing the architectural and interior concept for an exclusive hotel resort. The island, shaped by imposing granite formations, forms both the literal and aesthetic foundation of the design.
The project includes 30 villas with full-service amenities, 122 guest rooms, several restaurants and bars, a sports building with wellness and hot springs, generous event spaces and facilities for private occasions. By carefully positioning the buildings across the island, density remains low, creating a sense of calm, openness, and exclusivity.
The natural environment — defined by rugged rock formations, sculptural granite boulders, and lush vegetation — is actively incorporated into the design. In both floorplans and sightlines, the threshold between interior and exterior becomes blurred. For the facades and detailing — a sequence of modern, clearly composed volumes with expansive glass fronts — locally sourced granite is used, rooting the resort in its surroundings and fostering a sense of authenticity and local identity.
