Office, Noord-Holland
Located in the picturesque polder landscape of Oudkarspel, one of our teams designed a new office for an insurance company.
This project was rooted in its natural surroundings, with additional water features introduced to strengthen the connection to the nearby waterways, creating a tranquil and harmonious setting.Â
The design honors the legacy of the local past, with a nod to the area’s timber trade heritage. The interior prominently features an oak truss construction, adding warmth and texture to the space. An interesting detail: the oak used for the trusses comes from the same forest that supplied wood for the restoration of the Notre Dame in Paris.
Spanning a generous plot, the horizontal design of the building creates a cohesive campus-like environment, where distinct sections fulfill various functions. The structure is characterized by its subtle roof slope and elongated brickwork, emphasizing its horizontal orientation while blending seamlessly into the surrounding polder.
Inside, the spaces are designed to foster openness and connectivity. Expansive, high windows provide captivating views of the surrounding landscape. The office layout reflects a commitment to flexibility, with open workspaces complemented by fixed units for shared use.
An important part of the project is a multifunctional auditorium that can accommodate both large and small groups, offering an intimate yet spacious ambiance. The color and material palette is subdued and natural, ensuring a sense of unity throughout the building.
