Located in the World Trade Centre Schiphol lies the Numico- now Danone- head office. Tasked with the interior design of its public areas and office spaces in 2007, we aimed to create a distinguishing and recognizable presence within an existing multi-tenant building. Be taken by wellness interiors, the client brief was to translate such a sense of calm to a corporate environment. In doing so we created an inviting entrance by elevating the open plan reception area leading up to the open illuminated reception desk. Because it is a public area, we designed a screen in stainless steel mesh with big pivoted doors that can be opened during the day and can be closed at night.
As office visitors cannot advance directly from the reception area into the offices, we opted to create a spacious and welcoming waiting area outfitted with comfortable low seating arrangements surrounded by sheer curtains.
Mirroring the overall design and catering to the employee needs, the office spaces -located elsewhere- breathe the same friendly atmosphere as experienced in the public areas. Adding to this sense of calm and free of dissonance, we provided all the interior spaces with the same subdued light color scheme.
